Enmi Yang is a New York-based photographer and director. Born in South Korea, raised in Jeju Island and Texas, she is heavily influenced by nature within her practice. She think of the natural world as her stage. Many of her photographs elevate a natural setting to equal importance as the figures that are set within it. She often photograph female bodies within natural settings, and think of these environments as surrogates for a parallel version of herself. The images she make illustrate highly specific visual and emotional concepts, and are intended to empower a viewer while simultaneously empowering herself through the making process.
Enmi is the editor-in-chief of Phase Journal, a publication that was founded with the mission to support and connect the photo community by integrating emerging artists and established artists to haven where artist can explore and nourish their passion for deepening their creative practice through the spirit of adventure, collaboration, and artistic intuition.
